Where do the kids meet?
The children meet downstairs in the Training Wheels Child Care rooms. Children under 3 meet in a play oriented nursery school environment. The older group meets in the 3′s and 4′s room, which is set up more like a classroom.
Does my child need to bring anything in preparation for Sunday school?
No, lessons and materials are all at church. Time is alloted for eating lunch, so some parents choose to bring a snack or packed lunch for their children, but it is completely optional.
What measures are taken to provide safety for my child?
The nursery room is equipped with age appropriate and child safe toys. Gates and cabinet locks are used to keep children safe from storage and cleaning areas. An adult known and trusted within the community is always with the children. Children are escorted to the restrooms and are never left alone. Parents must sign in their children before the service and recieve ID numbers to pair them with their child. They must sign out the child by showing the ID number to the volunteers. Parents are the only people allowed to pick their children up after the service.
What is the procedure if my child needs me during service?
Because our community is relatively small, the volunteers in the kids area will come find you during service if it is absolutely necessary. We do not have pagers or a paging system to notify parents.
If I volunteer, how often do I have to commit?
We try to use a rotating cycle, in which volunteers help out once every 7 or 8 weeks. Additionally, volunteers may wish to substitute. They aren’t scheduled in a rotation; instead they are called only if scheduled volunteers are unable to help on their assigned week..
Can I choose which group I would like to teach?
Absolutely!
Where does the curriculum come from?
Our curriculum is an age appropriate version of the Sunday sermon each week.
If you are teaching the two older groups, you will receive a copy of the lesson plan prior to your scheduled week. When you arrive at church on Sunday morning the materials will be prepared for you.
